Regional United Way leader 'knows how to get things done'
United Way Tar River Region Executive Director Ginny Mohrbutter said that she was shocked and speechless — but also honored and humbled — when she found out that she is the Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce’s Distinguished Citizen of the Year.
Mayor Sandy Roberson, himself a past Chamber distinguished citizen, said in a recent phone interview that he appreciates the leadership Mohrbutter has demonstrated to Rocky Mount and the region for the extensive period she has been here.
Roberson said that there is no question that people see in Mohrbutter that she has compassion and a heart and that one cannot work as executive director of the regional United Way and be successful at that job if one does not have both.
“At the same time, I think she has demonstrated her ability to run it like a business — and to be professional and to make sure things happen in the way that it needs to happen,” Roberson said.
“I think she manifests, exhibits all of the traits that we need for somebody to be successful in that role,” he said.
