Mayor gives update on status of city manager

Mayor Sandy Roberson spoke Tuesday to an audience of Rotarians about the recent developments within the city’s leadership team with Keith Rogers Jr. having recently decided to take administrative leave from his post as city manager.

Roberson, speaking at the Rocky Mount Rotary Club’s weekly luncheon gathering at the Benvenue Country Club, said that he and the City Council are committed to immediately start a search for a new day-to-day executive when the position becomes vacant.

Roberson said that he anticipates that at the council’s next work session, “We will begin to look at various agencies that will help us conduct that search, nationally and locally and otherwise, so that we can identify potential candidates for us to go forward and move forward as a city.”
