City leaders, contractor dedicate replacement fire station at event

Mayor Sandy Roberson served as the welcoming speaker. City Councilman T.J. Walker, who represents the ward in which the station is located, also spoke as did fire Chief Darvin Moore, who has worked for the fire department for 25 years.

Roberson said that this was not just a building he and the other attendees were here to celebrate.

“It’s a promise; a commitment to the safety, resilience and the well-being of every person in our community,” Roberson said.

Roberson also said that the firefighters are no ordinary team.

“These are heroes trained and accredited to be the very best, ready at a moment’s notice to protect and serve the highest level with professionalism,” Roberson said.

Roberson also said that the future replacement station is not just an investment in bricks and mortar but in the future.

“It will be equipped with cutting-edge tools and technology. It will empower our firefighters to continue delivering an unparalleled service that our community deserves,” Roberson said.
